A Mother’s Cry for Help

A Mother’s Cry for Help

The patient and her mother along with her sister and niece boarded our little air ambulance bound for the hottest airport in the Philippines. It was a hot but beautiful day for flying. I landed safely after 1.5 hours flight time. We had a little challenge with getting them cleared for acceptance due to Covid 19 restriction but God answered my prayers and they were free to go to the hospital in their family vehicle.

The family and I kept in touch via Facebook messenger after the flight. I remember one day they messaged me asking if it is possible to transport them to another area for the surgery. Praise the Lord they didn’t have to be flown again, apparently they found a doctor who could do the surgery where I flew them the first time. Plus I remember the patient telling me that she’s really scared to go to the big city for surgery due to the overwhelming cases of Covid patients in that area of the Philippines.

“Capt. Davin, surgery was successful I am ready to go back home but…”

She kept me updated on her progress. Praise the Lord she made it through the surgery. I remember one day she message d me asking to take her home because she really misses her family especially her kids. Only problem is, she doesn’t have any money left to help with the fuel cost for the flight to take her home. It wasn’t an easy phone call for me to listen to the cry of a mother wanting to go home. Her surgery cost around $15,000USD. I only needed $400USD to have the fuel to take her home. I opted to prayerfully ask for help for her.

“Where do I send the money?”

I usually allow the Lord to really impress my heart to go beyond the usual call of duty to help others with the airplane. I remembered when I was a student pilot in San Diego California I had an adopted SDA Filipino brother who was always there for me in cases of financial emergencies. Often it was rent, food and housing when I needed a place to sleep.

I called him up and asked him for $400USD to help this family get home and with no hesitation he asked “where do I send the money?”

I transported them back home in spite of the really strong winds that I had to deal with that day. Praise the Lord that family and I keep in touch ever since.

“It’s my turn to help you.”

One day I as stranded due to bad weather, after posting on my Facebook page for help with a place to stay for the night this family had their relative pick me up from the airport, gave me a place to sleep for the night and dropped me off at the airport in the morning. “Capt. Davin, you helped me before, now it is my turn to help you” she told me.

Praise the Lord for these opportunity to fly and be a blessing to others.
